Find your places in Triana

14 Dec 2015

1. Mercado de Triana

The market of Triana, where all the locals come together for grocery shopping. There are only local products available in this market. The finest pieces of fruit and vegetables, fresh fish and many more. If you give a dinner at home, you know where to shop your groceries! Especially very busy on Saturdays. Nice souvenirs to take home: Jamón Ibérico, goat cheese, special sweets from the region and many more... Even if you don’t need anything, just visit this market for the atmosphere. It’s also possible to have a drink and a tapa and just watch everyone.  You also could find the best sushi of Triana at the Ostrería (near the back-exit of the market).

2. Castañas

Chestnuts, you can see them E-VE-RY-WHERE! The fragrance is really nice. If you´ve ever been to Seville, you´ll definitely recognize this fr

agrance. It´s a local delicacy. Absolutely worth a try when you´re bringing a visit here! You could find these Castañas mostly in the main streets of the town. The main street of Triana is San Jacinto.

3. Santa Ana Church

This church is the oldest church in Seville. This church was founded in 1248 by order of Fernando III. For years, it was considered as the cathedral of Seville. The church has been trough a lot of obstacles, the biggest one was the earthquake of Lisbon in 1755. That´s what makes this church so special, he survived anything! Nice things to do: sit on the terrace of the “santa ana bar” in the weekends and have a look at all dressed up Sevillanos entering the church for weddings, christenings or holy communions...

4. Mercado Lonja del Barranco

This modern market is always crowded and sparkling! There are several stalls with the finest products. It´s common to order some food and a glass of good wine, and just sit in the middle of the market (or outside!) and enjoy your food, drinks and the great atmosphere. Of course it’s also possible to just go for some grocery shopping. Many Sevillanos end up at the terraces on Friday afternoon to have a drink with their colleagues.

5. Triana streets...

Triana is totally an upcoming neighbourhood in Seville. There are a lot of narrow streets, it looks like a maze for people who aren’t used to it. This is the street behind “Calle Betis”, Calle Pureza. The houses are colourful and in every side street, there are cute squares or bars and restaurants. Our advice is: just walk through Triana and see where it brings you... Get lost and enjoy it!
