Malaga: a small Barcelona!

12 Jul 2017

You wanted to spend some time in Barcelona this summer but you finally ended up in the smaller and less famous city of Malaga, in Andalusia ? You could enjoy your holidays just as much. Here is a little comparison: Barcelona vs Malaga!

Two cities built on the sea

BarcelonetaMalagueta: the names of the most famous beaches of each city are quite similar. In fact, Barcelona and Malaga are two great places where you can enjoy going to the beach without leaving the city. But what is the weather like in Malaga and Barcelona? It is most of the time very sunny, and the temperatures are nicer during summer than in the center of Spain since the cities are both close to the sea. You will find there palm trees, ports that are perfect for walks or rides to enjoy the view, and a lot of nice restaurants – what else do we need?

What about some culture?

Regarding painting, Joan Miró was born in Barcelona, while Malaga is famous for being the city where Pablo Picasso was born. Museums are dedicated to these two great painters in both cities – and the least we can say is that they are proud of their artists! To continue, both Barcelona and Malaga are famous for their many museums and places to visit: there is no way you will get bored there!

You will always find something to do in Malaga or Barcelona!

What can make you really enjoy Barcelona and Malaga is their lively atmospheres. In both cities, you can walk along beautiful streets, do some shopping, go out for dinner to nice restaurants and bars... You can discover the typical Spanish food in bodegas and tapas bars (like the great Casa Lola in Malaga), but also enjoy a mix of cultures.

If you are a football lover, you must know that this sport is very important for both cities. You could go the stadiums, the famous Camp Nou in Barcelona and the Rosaleda in Malaga.

One more thing: Malaga is a smaller city than Barcelona, and therefore it is less crowded, less expensive and you won't have to take the public transports all the time. Also, in Malaga, the Andalusian culture is omnipresent, with its Arabic and Christian influences, whereas Barcelona is often perceived as a fully European city. Which place would be best for your holidays then? Barcelona vs Malaga: we let you decide!
