Córdoba is located east from Seville and north from Málaga. From both cities it is easy to travel to Córdoba either by bus or train. This makes the city great to visit for a day or two during your holiday in Andalusia!

What does Córdoba have to offer?
The city can actually be compared with Seville, but is a bit smaller. You can experience a lot of the Andalusian History. Just like Seville, the city got conquered by the Catholic Kings, and before that there were Muslims. Because of that, there is still a mosque with a church inside it. This mosque is the biggest tourist attraction of Córdoba, but of course it has more than just that!

Since a few years, the Arabian baths are open to the public too, and believe it or not, it’s even possible to get a massage there! You can’t visit the whole complex, but the part you can see is already more than enough.

The city also had a great influence because of the different cultures that lived there, because next to the Arabian culture, you can also find Jewish culture in the city. Córdoba also has a Jewish quarter. It’s easy to find yourself getting lost by the beauty of this quarter by just walking through it.

What makes Córdoba so special in May?
May is the month of festivities in this beautiful city! It already starts in the beginning of the month, with Cruces de Mayo. This literally means crosses of May. During this event there will be parades with people carrying crosses decorated with flowers. Next to the parades you can find bars serving traditional tapas and locals dancing the Sevillanas.
The next event is Festival de los Patios. A patio is a kind of courtyard, and during this event you can find many courtyards decorated with flowers. This gives the city a whole different atmosphere. People can also participate in a competition of the best decorated balcony.

While the Feria in Seville is midway/end of April, the Feria in Córdoba starts at the end of May or sometimes even in the beginning of June. The Feria is about the same as in Seville; people eating, drinking, dancing and communicating while wearing their best suit or flamenco dress. There is just one great difference for tourists: All stages and little casetas (tents) are public!
