The Halloweenfeest is on the doorstep. Next Monday, thirty-one October, the night of the witches, the live dead and the zombies return to Seville. Autumn begins with one of the long-standing imported traditions, the Halloweenfeest that reaches its peak ‘s night. Nowadays there are also more and more alternatives to daytime. In this blog you will read how the city of Seville changes with Halloween. Candlelight in an enchanting night with classical compositions

On Sunday 30th October, a talented string orchestra will host a concert with the most terrifying classics, such as: Thriller (Michael Jackson), Ghostbusters (main theme), Adams Family (main theme), Harry Potter - Hedwig’s theme and this is Halloween (Marilyn Manson) in a spectacular candlelit location. The concert takes about sixty-five minutes. It will start at 19:00 and the doors open half an hour in advance. All this in a very unique location: The Fundacion Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo on Isla de La Cartuja.

Halloween on a magical island

From one October you can have a whole month of fun on Isla Mágica. Until one November, both adults and children can enjoy the terrifying adventures on this large island in La Cartuja. This whole month there will be special Halloween decorations from gloomy lighting when falling from the evening to cobwebs, tombstones, bats and pumpkins. Enjoy the mysterious shows, passages and all the attractions of the theme park.

Festive food

Halloween in Seville wouldn't be complete without tasting the ultimate Halloween snack, the famous Huesos de Santos (translated as the Holy Bones). Huesos de Santos are delicious marzipan rolls filled with custard and are traditionally eaten at All Saints (November 1). You'll find them in October and November at many Confiteria's (pastry shops).
You'll also find hundreds of street vendors in the city pop up and sell another autumn treat: Roasted chestnuts. To really get into the spooky atmosphere, grab some roasted chestnuts at a stall outside the Maria Luisa Park and enjoy this festive snack on an evening stroll through the park.

Don Juan Tenorio and Halloween in Seville

It is a popular and literary tradition, which is staged in Spanish theaters the play Don Juan Tenorio on All Saints. The myth of Don Juan was born in the drama “El Burlador de Sevilla” (the deceider of Seville and the stone guest) of Tirso de Molina.
The relationship with Halloween is that Don Juan has contact with the dead. He killed the father of his beloved after she died of grief. He invited the memorial statue on the father's tomb to his dining to his surprise the stone statue was his dinner guest. The image tries to drag Don Juan to hell but the spirit of his beloved pleads for Don Juan and he has repent. Today the impressive piece is not only on November 1, but you can also experience it the rest of the month and different dates in December!
