Here in the city of Seville, the winter days are approaching. The weather is getting colder and the nights darker, but that also means the holiday season is just around the corner. The city is already beautifully decorated, but in the evenings, the lights aren’t on yet. In Seville, it’s a special moment when all the lights and Christmas decorations in the city are turned on at the same time. It’s really fun to be there if you’re in Seville!

When Does the Christmas Lights Turn On in Seville?

On Friday, November 28th at 6:30 PM, the Christmas lights in Seville will be switched on. At that moment, the city will be illuminated with thousands of lights that have been put up weeks in advance. This marks the official start of the holiday season. Additionally, there will be several light shows and Christmas markets.

The lights can be seen in various locations, such as Avenida de la Constitución, Campana, Laraña, Imagen, and Plaza Nueva. Finally, there will also be a light show at Plaza de San Francisco.

What Does the City Look Like During the Holidays?

During the winter season, Seville is an incredibly cozy city. There are plenty of activities to do throughout the city. For example, you can buy delicious sweets made by nuns. From December 6th to 8th, there will be a tasting event in the Gothic Palace of the Alcázar.

If you prefer something more active, you can also go ice skating. Seville On Ice runs from November 30th to January 7th, and you can skate daily from 12:00 PM to midnight.

Near the cathedral, there will also be a Christmas market called Feria del Belén, where you can find everything you need to create your own Christmas nativity scene at home.

Seville’s Christmas lights are so special because more than 300 streets and shops are decorated. The city has a wonderful festive atmosphere, almost like stepping into a fairytale. There’s cheerful music on the streets, fun Christmas markets, and daily light shows. You can also smell the aroma of freshly roasted chestnuts everywhere. It’s truly a magical experience to be in Seville during the holiday season.
