9 things to do in Cordoba

15 Aug 2016

Cordoba is a small but lovely city that you should see if you’re visiting Spain and especially Andalusia. It’s only an hour away from Seville and two from Granada, you have no excuses! It’s not because it’s a small city that there is nothing to do, in fact…you’d be surprised!

  • Well first of all the Mosque of Cordoba is the most famous city monument, it’s huge and wonderfully beautiful, this former mosque now a cathedral presents very distinct styles in its architecture which makes it so original and precious

  • The historical centre of Cordoba is to be seen, once again I’ll advise you to drop the map and let your feet lead you. You need to get lost to appreciate all the hidden corners of the small city.
  • Maybe you’ve seen pictures of Cordoba and most of them with a particularly long bridge. Yes that’s the Roman Bridge and it’s really famous, by day you can enjoy the view of the Gualdalquivir river and by night the lights of the bridge makes it even more beautiful.

  • Bike tour: Yes in Cordoba too you can enjoy a bike tour with a professional guide who will tell you everything you need to know about the city and its secrets.
  • Juderia, this is the former Jewish district of Cordoba made of narrow streets with little shops and restaurants. In the same area there’s also the synagogue that you can visit.

  • Seville is not the only city with an ‘Alcazar’, indeed Cordoba has also its palace and it’d be too bad to miss it!
  • Palacio Museo de Viana: houses from the nobles families of Cordoba, it’s really beautiful and said to be one of the best thing to do in Cordoba.

  • Eat! You must try the typical Andalusian dishes. It is said that Cordoba is known for two main things: the beautiful ladies and the delicious churros! I must say the “mujeres” really are pretty and the churros really are good! Another typical dish is the salmorejo (to see the list of spain dishes you should try read this article
  • Plazas, In Cordoba there are various places, such as Plaza de los Tendillos and Plaza de la Corredera which is a big place surrounded by colourful typical buildings where you can eat tapas and have a bear in one of the numerous bars. By chance you can also see some flamenco or salsa demonstration.
