Finally, the ambassador of the US declared today that our capital was elected. In September, the recordings of "Game of Thrones" will take place in Seville. The Alcazar is the chosen place and will serve as the region of Dorne, where the house Martell prevails.
Not a bad place to make this serie wherein seven kingdoms fight against each other and Dorne is an exotic world of its own. Queens and princes and kings and princesses spend their time in the gardens of Dorne and each have their own agendas and intrigues. Mind you, more than once their plans are overheard and then fall apart. Without intrigues no game of thrones.
The Alcazar of Seville, which dates back to the eighth century, meets all the requirements. The palace has beautiful Moorish gardens with fountains, orange trees and water basins. When you walk into the palace, you’ll find yourself literally in a fairy tale of 1001 nights. After the conquest of the christians on the moors, the latter had their "Mudejar" palace constructed and it is equipped with the finest wood, carved ceilings and even the tapestries of Charles the Fifth that he brought from Brussels are still to be found in the Alcazar.
Andalucía Tours and Discovery is proud of the city in which it is established and is working on developing a bike tour in which we pay special attention to the films which are or were filmed in Seville. The makers of Lawrence of Arabia were certainly not mistaken, when they discovered that the Alcazar is an ideal location for shooting movies. In September we are preparing for a special tour that will be available through our website. Just keep an eye on it!
