Hasta Luego, Daniëlle

29 Dec 2019

The days, weeks and months flew by during my placement here in Seville, Spain. Twenty weeks that have brought me a lot of positive things. In this blog, I will look back on my internship here in Seville, what I learned and what the city has given me.

I arrived here on one of the hottest days in summer, August 16th to be precise. I stayed in an apartment in the district of Los Remedios during my placement, together with two American students. I loved living a little outside of the center because I really got to be amongst the locals and live like them. I walked to work every day for about 30 minutes. I could also cycle, but I loved the route to work because it was mostly next to the beautiful river Guadalquivir.

After a weekend getting used to Seville and finding my way around, it was time to get to work! On my first day, I got welcomed by my colleagues and I knew right away that I was in the right place, the culture within ATD Spain suited me very well. Another intern explained to me everything about social media management and that is what I have mostly been doing during my placement here at ATD Spain. So, the tweets, pictures on Instagram and Facebook, are mostly done by me. What I enjoyed most was writing the blogs on the website, since this was a great creative outlet.

Besides the work in the office, I also guided about two tours a week by bike in Seville. I enjoyed this a lot and was very enthusiastic to share my passion for this city with guests visiting Spain. Because every tour you have different guests, every tour was unique. I learned a lot from managing the tours, especially time management and entertaining bigger groups of tourists.

This week, I am flying back to The Netherlands to continue my study International Tourism Management in February at Breda University. I have my specialization for half a year and then I already have my last year.

I want to thank ATD Spain for offering me this opportunity here in Seville and for guidance throughout my internship. I would also like to thank my company supervisor Rosalie and all my other colleagues that made me time here unforgettable!

Hasta Luego!
