Los Remedios is a residential area in Seville. It is made up out of apartment buildings and wide straight streets, which is something quite rare in this city with its narrow and windy streets. The district is completely different than other parts of Seville, and while you may say it lacks the charm other neighbourhoods have, you can find some GREAT food here and do some good shopping too. Definitely an interesting stop for the foodlovers aka foodies among us.
Cata 50
Cata 50 is a restaurant close to the Plaza de Cuba metro stop. On the menu you can find traditional food with a modern touch, a blend of old classics and innovating new dishes. Not only is the food tasty, we love the interior too. It’s cosy with some pieces of furniture that catch the eye. Its long rows of tables make it fitting for big groups as well as a simple tête-a-tête.
Another plus is that can eat breakfast, lunch AND dinner here!
Check out their facebookpage for more info and pictures.
Café del valle
Ready for a dessert? Those with a sweet tooth, listen up! Specialty coffees and a range of pies and cakes that will leave you mouth-watering. Hungry yet? We recommend the Tarta Chocolatina! A décor with a green and young vibe welcome you to sit back and enjoy your little cheat meal. We do have to warn you, finding a table might not be evident, a little luck is needed.
Calle asuncíon
For the shopping part Calle Asuncíon is the place to be in Los Remedíos. The street offers some big chain stores like Springfield, Tiger and Parfois, but for the most part you can find local shops and brands. Two of our favourite picks are Belle de Jour and Le Marché.
However, the street has more to offer than shops. You will also pass some nice terraces and heladerias where you can get a refreshing drink and ice cream. But most of all we love the little bakery called Crustum that serves fresh specialty bread, with or without a cheesy filling.
Parque de los Principes
On the western end of the Los Remedios district you can find a big park to relax and enjoy the sun. There are a couple of playgrounds for kids to play while you relax and maybe even have a picnic.
Not one for sitting in grass? No worries, the park features a nice bar called ‘Voraz’ too. Here you can have drink in the sun right in between the lemon trees, that southern feeling at its best!
Feria de abril
The thing Los Remedios might be most known for is hosting the Feria de Abril each year. This year from 12 to the 17th of April the Feria will turn the terrain into a festival village. Everything evolves around flamenco, horses, drinking and eating! With the Feria being right around the corner, the build-up is at full force right now, you can already get an idea of what it will look like on the 12th of April.
INSIDE TIP: get out some fancy clothes. A dress or a suite will make you fit in best. Locals really go all out for this time of the year with dresses especially made for the Feria. You will see a lot of Flamenco dresses, but this might be a bit too much of an investment for a one time visit. We just recommend to not keep it casual for this occasion!
