Seville’s food, where to find?

03 Nov 2017

Food is everywhere in Seville, from tapas to burgers and pizza’s to meats. But where can you find local foods? Local products? Are there any better places than the local supermarkets where you can shop fresh local products?

….. Yes!! There are, actually a lot. Because Seville is still so traditional, you will find a lot of mercado’s as we call them in Spain. This simply means markets. Indoor markets. Those are the best. There are 2 very good ones actually. One in the city, Mercado de la Encarnacion and one in Triana, Mercado de Triana.

Mercado de la Encarnacion is under Metropol Parasol. Or as we know that crazy wooden building in Seville, Las Setas. It means the mushrooms. Because they actually look like mushrooms. This one is very big and has 2.200 square meters and there are in this area 40 markets divided in this Mercado de la Encarnacion. The different genres this Mercado offers are Fish and Seafood, Fruits and Vegetables, Meats, Chicken, Cheeses and Charcuteria and as last the accessories shops, like pickles, ice cream and jewels. So in fact this is a very complete market with all the needs, in particular food that you need. And the most important, it is local and good tasting!

The other Mercado is Mercado de Triana, located in Triana, the oldest neighbourhood of Seville. A very big and famous Mercado. Because it is located in the oldest neighbourhood of Seville, this Mercado definitely has a name. A good one. Because you can buy almost everything in this market just like the Mercado de la Encarnacion. However, in this Mercado you can also enjoy a very good glass of wine with according to the people from Triana, the best Tapas! So this one is worth visiting and for all your fresh product, Mercado de Triana is the place to be!
